December 2005 so far...

Well, it’s the holidays and there’s been so much happening that I really don’t know where to start so I’m going to do a little list. Things that you have missed in my life so far…

Skiing. My very first skiing lesson occurred on Mt. Moiwa, Sapporo, Japan. I had a wonderful instructor. She was really patient and totally an expert at what she does. Loved the entire thing despite the fact that I’d fallen loads. Not to mention the fact that it became really cold somewhere during the mid afternoon. Absolutely want to do this again. *huge grin*

Food. The food in Japan is always amazing. *sighs dreamily* Nothing beats good Japanese food. And coming from a family which really appreciates their food, we ate not once but TWICE the Alaskan King Crab, which is highly popular in Hokkaido. It was so good we went to a market in Otaru and bought one to eat in the hotel. Now that’s called effort. Otaru is at least an hour outside of Sapporo. The crab traveled a long way. *grins* The ramen there was indescribably gorgeous too. Oh dear, I miss it already...

Spa. The Japanese spa experience is truly a world apart and one of its kind. Basically, all is expected to strip naked, clean thoroughly and then enter the pools or saunas. Yep, pools. 3 to be exact. Each pool had different water therapy massage sprays and was a different temperature from the rest. It was great. The sauna and steam room was a little too adventurous for me so I hadn’t managed to venture that far out. Maybe next time... As for cleaning thoroughly, there was brushes provided for everything right down to your little toes. Definitely an enlightening experience.

The 20th anniversary dinner. It was beyond hilarious. Some of our family friends were really going at it to make my aunt and uncle embarrassed. More importantly, it was always good to see the family together like that again. Pity Gramps wasn’t there. I missed him but then again, with the awkward situation, it wouldn’t have been possible. *disappointed look* I hope it gets sorted out soon. He’s family too.
