Random Babble

And so it begins... US vs CHN. I was watching CNN earlier only to find that not only is the US and China rivals in politics but I've just realized that they are inevitably also rivals in trade. Today its the oil industry. I wonder what it will be tomorrow. Technology? Medicine?

The world's power balance is starting to shift. From my perspective, it seems futile for the US to cling on to the past. The Bush Administration has no chance in this one. Already the States has made too many enemies who are more than willing to deal with China - if only to spite the US. Not only do the Chinese have the most widely spoken language in the world (Oh come on! It has a population of 1 billion for crying out loud), they're also acquiring more allies at a rather efficient rate.

Anyway, I was out with Sharon tonight. It was loads of fun and I realize how much I've missed spending time with my friends here. We went for a japanese dinner - mmm... sashimi - and then a bottle of white at a chilled out part of SG. I really like it there. Should bring mom there sometime. I don't think she even knows it exists. *lol* Sometimes I find that slightly comical: the fact that mom is supposedly a resident here and yet I probably know more places than she does.

It was lovely of Gramps to call me yesterday given that he was the first one I spoke to on the phone since I arrived. The problem with having extremely busy parents is that one can often find themselves arriving to a home slightly devoid of its alleged inhabitants. I say alleged cause sometimes I believe that mom actually spends more time living in hotels and planes than in her actual apartment.

On a more random topic, have you ever had a recurring dream? I've had one recently that seems to be bothering me since I can't figure out what's going on. The worse is that I know its an immense hazard sign but the question is: what am I on the lookout for?
